Design at the right fidelity for the feedback you want

The Office – 'Classy Christmas'

Getting the kind of feedback you want can be tough. With the combination of tools like Figma and a good design system, it’s easy to jump right into production-level detail when designing something new.

It’s important to tell your team what you’d like feedback on, and showing work at the right fidelity is one way to do that. If you want concept feedback, show a rough sketch. If you want feedback on color and spacing, show production-ready frames.

You don’t need to progress linearly from concept sketches to high-fidelity work. Sometimes I will start with high-fidelity frames to work through an idea for myself, and then create concept sketch to get high-level feedback from the team.
